Happy Birthday card

Hello sweet bloggers,
Thanks so much for your kind comments on my last post... Glad that you like that card :-) What would card makers do without the world of blogging. I just love sharing my little cards and getting all those delightful comments considering at home, all I have is little Aleeza to show my cards to since Zeenya is not into card making anymore and her father never was. But ofcourse I do have friends who really appreciate my cards but they are not necessarily my followers.

This was another card I made in minutes for Zeenya's friend - and thank God that I have stuck the ribbon the right way (unlike one of my previous cards which had it the other way round, lol) The cake is from my stash - cannot remember where it is from as I have thrown away the packaging. The crystals are from Prima and I have sponged the Spellbinder's nestie. The birthday sentiment is from Penny Black.

I will enter this card in the following challenges:

See you later.

Another simple card

Hello sweet bloggers,
This was a card I made a while ago with a Kaiser Craft clear background stamp (using American Craft clay) and when I showed it to Zeenya (my older one) her comment was, "It is too dull, it won't sell". And sold it did the instant I made it to a friend who often buys my cards. Sorry for the poor picture quality... the Sakura copper pen was really shiny and even though I tried different angles, this is the best I could manage. The flower centres have been touched with liquid pearls in mushroom. You may not believe this but plain cards like this sell so quickly that it leaves me wondering what was it about the card that made it sell???

I will enter this card in:

Wish you a pleasant weekend.

Recycled card

Hello sweet peeps,
Here I am again with a recycled card made from a very pretty invitation card for a Mother's Day event. As soon as I saw the invite, all that I could think of was how to make a card out of this. So I let it lie on the dining table for a few days and this is what I made. Stuck a few pearls and an organza ribbon - that's all and my card was ready. Even the dotted paper is part of the invitation card by the way as is the embossing on the rose.

I will enter this card in:

Thank God it's Friday once again!

Could not resist blogging...

Hello lovely peeps,

I know some of you have asked me to slow down with blogging in order to rest myself but it is sooo addictive you know. Lol.
Here is a card I made a while ago but it did not post it. The flowers have been stamped directly on this textured card stock using a clear stamp (cannot remember the name) and have been coloured with a red water colour pencil. I have used two kinds of striped paper and the ribbon and hand tied bow were used to add more red as was the EK Success border punch. I tried to position the stamp in an unsymmetrical way on the card stock to make it look natural.

A quickie

Hello sweet bloggers,
Thanks so much for all the congratulatory comments about my cards - I was on cloud nine yesterday.
Here is a quick and simple card I made for Aleeza's friend's birthday today... These mini card blanks were sent to me by Shirley-Anne and they seemed to be just the right size for a card needed in minutes.

Below is the gift that Aleeza and I wrapped and decorated together. She wanted a cake on it and I had this best wishes sentiment lying around with the flower and leaves so I stuck it on.

Wish you a pleasant morning, afternoon or evening.

I sold 33 cards at the bazaar!!!

Hello lovely kind peeps,

Thank you ever so much for all the good wishes you have been sending me for the bazaar.
which was a huge success. I managed to sell 33 cards out of 54 cards today which is the best sale I have had in all these years and I will continue to support financially deprived Indonesian children with their primary education.
So my count so far is a total of 85 cards for this year and with that comes the price to pay - tired neck muscles and some other health issues. I think I may need to slow down which is heart breaking really because card making is my passion and my life. And selling cards for charity gives me a certain mission and purpose in life which is extremely fulfilling. I have been making cards on a large scale since the past 15 years and it's effects are telling on me. Or maybe I need to simplify my style even more so that it does not increase the repetitive stress.
Sorry for that moaning and groaning and now to this aperture card which is a repeat of the earlier one I made like this a few weeks ago. I think I went a bit wild with the flowers and have almost covered the aperture instead of showing it. Some of you asked me to make more of these and you were absolutely right - both the ones I made sold.

Down below is a picture of my table - I took the picture so it is without me.

I will enter this card in the following challenges:

Another one for the bazaar

Hello sweet bloggers,
Yes, tomorrow is the bazaar and I am hoping I do well there. Here is another card for sale tomorrow. Very simple - made with with papers and the tiger prink is a ribbon and so is the sentiment. Buttons from my stash and it was done - no stamping, no embossing, no sponging just sticking and sticking.

Thanks for all good wishes for the bazaar and I really appreciate them.

Much love,

Monica

Another one for the bazaar

Hello sweet bloggers,

Here is another card I have to show you to add to my collection of 54 cards for the bazaar on Tuesday, the 14th. Thank you for all the encouragement you have been giving me.

This is a simple card with a Petaloo flower which I love and the leaves have been punched from textured paper that I created in the days that Zeenya used to craft with me. We stuck tissue paper over printer paper and sponged it with natural food colour (we mixed two food colours - cannot remember which ones as it was some years ago). I do like the way the it turned out and it just happened to match well with the flowers. I have used liquid pearls in gold for the flowers and the lace is from my stash.

I hope you are having a good weekend where ever you are. It is 730 pm here as I write this post so that means our weekend is almost over.

Card for a man

Hello sweet bloggers,

Here is my card to show you for today... a card for a man made with two kinds of fancy gift wrap papers and washi tape.  The paper with concentrics is actually silvery but it does not show in the picture. The yarn and natural buttons are from my stash and the sentiement is from a larger sheet. I am not sure whether I should have stuck the washi tape at all as it seems to transparent.

Hope you all are having a pleasant weekend. I am getting all set for the bazaar on the 14th. I have  made something like 50 plus cards.

Happy Mother's Day

Hello sweet peeps,
Happy Mother's Day to all those celebrating it today. What a lovely Mother's Day I had at Aleeza's school this morning. The teacher organized a picnic with lots of fun surprises for us mums and kids. It started with a story I read about a lion who wanted to love followed by vase painting, playing snakes and ladders and twister. All of us got snacks and had lots of tasty treats at the end of it. To make it a real rosy finale, the teacher took a silk rose bud for each mum put it in the vases we painted and made the kids present them to their respective mums with a handmade card (which the kids made earlier in class). It was such a touching and affectionate affair - my best Mother's Day to date.
Now to my card... simple, embossed, sponged with TH walnut stain, butterfly stickers and punched ones as well. I coloured the punched butterflies with water colour pencils, markers, and glitter pens. Wished the glitter would show in the picture as it does in real life. I have used liquid pearls to add more dimension.

Down below is Aleeza's teacher giving a demonstration of painting on the ceramic vase with glass paints.

Wish you a happy day, afternoon, evening or a plain night night.

For a baby girl

Hello sweet bloggers,

Here is another card that I have made for the bazaar on the 14th. I had made a similar looking one earlier and it sold so I thought I must make a repeat and here it is. The stamp is from Penny Black and the ribbons, pearls and flower is from my stash. The leaves have been embossed but I don't think that is doing much to them.

More gingham coming your way

Hello sweet peeps,

I had this red and white gingham lying on my table and my blog buddy Sandra sent  these cute sheep chipboard images, so I thought why not make a card combining the two. Incidentally sheep images sell very quickly for some reason. I have a confession to make though - these chipboard images were sent for little Aleeza but I just could not keep my hands off them. And Aleeza was kind enough to share so I went for it.  The sentiment is handwritten with an American Craft permanent marker. I could have come up with a witty sentiment like "Happy Baaday" but my hands had a mind of their own...

My new stamps

Hello lovely bloggers,

Here is my card to show you today stamped with my new Penny Black clear stamps and coloured with Faber Castell water colour pencils. I had this doily sitting around doing nothing on my table for months now so I thought I should use it before it wears out. And this gingham paper seemed to match perfectly as did the buttons (I just find buttons hard to resist specially when they match perfectly) and the embroidery yarn. I do think my colouring is improving... lol.

I do like this colour combo

Hello sweet bloggers,
Thanks for the kind comments on my last card. I would like to welcome my newest followers - thank you so much for joining my little blog.
Here is a card I have made with an image sent by dear Shirley-Anne along with other lovely stuff. This image was already layered on to a frame so all I had to do was to stick it with foam dots on the card. the floral tape is the same one as on the previous card. The flowers have been punched on paper that was crinkled first and then painted with water colour paints. I have used liquid pearl in gold as flower centres. As usual it took me forever to arrange the flowers and the swirls and am still a bit unsure how they look. However I do like the colour combination on this card.

An anniversary card

Hello sweet peeps,

Here is a card I made a few days ago with washi tape and some kind of floral fabric tape and cotton lace. The roses are from a longer length of lace and the flourish is from Sizzix. It is a single corner flourish and what I did was to snip it into three pieces to balance it with the roses. Even though this is a quick card, it took me a long while to get the positioning of the flourishes right. In the end, I do like the way it turned out and hope you do too.

WIne lovers always do the ripe thing

Hello sweet bloggers,

I made this card last weekend and quite like it. The printed paper is what I had won in Terry's blog candy. I have coloured the stamped image ( from Tara Reed ) with water colour pencils and have stuck pop up fabric glitter on the grapes. The butterfly, ribbon, lace and flower are from my stash. The Spellbinder nestie has been sponged with TH distress ink. I have used this stamp many a time but every time I do it creates a new magic. I just love the sentiment on it, don't you?

Birthday card

Hello sweet peeps,

Here is my card to show you for today. I have used two different kinds of fancy gift wrap and washi tape. I was really happy with this card and then something happened when I was sticking the embroidery yarn. I tried being extra creative with it and tried to cover it up with the red and black card stock with a sentiment (from Penny Black) on it.  I feel this card is quite non-descript considering I started out fairly well with the papers. I am also realizing that buying lots of fancy gift wrap is not so economical an option - it is like penny wise and pound foolish... lol. However I cannot deny my love affair with gift wrap - there is something so delightful about it that it becomes hard to resist. Lol.

Painted flowers

Hello sweet peeps,

Here is my card to show you today. I have painted these flowers directly with a brush dipping one of the brush in yellow and the other end in a wee bit or red and this is what I achieved. I cut out the flowers and moulded them gently, popped them on foam tape. The flower centres are also hand made with a flower punch. For the flourishes and punched leaves, I have used paper that I ran a brush with green water colour over it. The beautiful green printed paper came from Terry. Thanks so much!

Monochromatic pink and white

Hello sweet bloggers,
Here is another card to show you with this lovely filigreed heart. Just a simple sweet card with a question for you - does the heart in the centre look kind of lonely or empty? This embossing folder was a little too big so I embossed it in a manner that would fit my card. I have used liquid pearls in the centre to finish it off. Would love to know what you think of it.

Teddy bear, teddy bear eat your cake

Hello there,
Hope you are having a nice weekend... it is almost the end of Sunday here so I thought I must blog before the day is over.
My card is a simple one here. I have used this darling image from Penny Black many a time and love it. It has been coloured with water colour pencils and I have propped up the image on foam dots. The incomplete circle happened because there was not enough space on the paper but I went for it and I quite like what turned out. I love this Ek Success cupcake border punch and wish I would use it more often. The buttons and embroidery yarn are from my stash. Buttons seem to be  on every card (almost) of mine.

For Less is More - sketch

Hello it's me again for the second time today which is quite rare. Here is my card for Less is More  - quick and easy. The lovely strawberry came from my dear blog buddy Sandra. Thank you so much, I love it!!! The strawberry has been popped on foam dots to make it look 3D.
I have had this mesh embossing folder hanging around for a long time now so it was beckoning me to be used. The sentiment is handwritten and I am not too impressed with it.

Off to make some more cards and then read to Aleeza.

For a baby girl

Hello sweet bloggers,

Here is my card for today which is for a baby girl. The doily stamp is from Paper Mania and the lace stamp is from Kaiser Craft (I think). The tiny flowers have been punched out of a paper I crumpled and sponged purple and white water colours over it. The sentiment is from Hampton Arts and the flowers around the button have liquid pearls in their centres. Sorry that the picture is a bit crooked. Note to myself - must learn to take better pictures.

I love this paper

Hello sweet bloggers,
Thanks for the kind comments on my last card... and for the suggestions on how to fill the empty space at the bottom.
I have been busy making cards for the bazaar on May the 14th, so busy that I could not blog yesterday. Here is my card to show you for today and much as I love the colours on this paper, I am not sure if the double bow looks nice. You know when I make general cards they do really well so I went for it - just paper with no stamping. It made up for not using stamps because I took loads of time taken to get the bow done properly - these double bows can be trying. In retrospect, I may add a few pearls or rhinestones on the paper to make it prettier.

I must go and do some visiting now.

Another card sold today!

Hello lovely bloggers,

I am busy making more cards to sell at a bazaar on May the 14th and I need to buck up since I don't have a large stock left.
Here is a card I have made which I seem to be quite pleased with. I saw this style somewhere ( apologies that I cannot remember) long ago and have been wanting to make it since then. I punched a round aperture and stuck flowers in a manner that made a filigree like arrangement. Much as I was tempted to add a sentiment, I refrained from the thought so that it remains a generic card. The MS border punch on the left is was bought with much passion some months ago is being aired for the first time. In the centre of the layered flowers are pearls. The ribbon has been recycled from somewhere (cannot recollect).
Do you think the empty space at the bottom looks too empty?

Good news - seven cards sold at Aleeza's school

Hello sweet peeps,
Today there was a beautiful earth day celebration in Aleeza's school and they sang a lovely song called, "Mother Earth, Mother Earth, it's a great place to be..."
I am so happy that seven cards have sold in Aleeza's school so far and that takes my count to a total of 50 so far this year. I must thank you all for the encouragement and support you all give me. Blogging has done much for me to say the least.

And now to my card following a sketch for Crazy 4 Challenges. It took me forever to create this card even though it was such a nice and easy sketch.  The image is a stamp from Penny Black which has been coloured in with water colour pencils, cut out and popped on foam dots on the punched white paper which has also been stuck with foam dots to give it more dimension. The paper is from a roll of wall paper and the mesh is from my stash as are the buttons. It looks a bit lop sided in the picture but in real life it looks okay. The sentiment is handwritten (I am not impressed with it) and I have used liquid pearls for added interest.

Down below is Aleeza's contribution for Earth Day - she says it is a little girl hugging the earth.

Wish you a pleasant week ahead.

For CAS(e) this Sketch and CAS(ual) Friday

Hello sweet peeps,

Here is my card for CAS(e) this Sketch and I will also enter it in CAS(ual) Friday.
I have had these Sizzix die cut candles using a cake box for something like over five years. I wrapped embroidery floss over the candles for added interest and slapped them on a card. Never mind how tedious it was to wrap that yarn and ensure it did not peep out from either end. The sentiment is handwritten and it took me forever to get it right as I tried black ink to write it the first time but it looked odd. Finally had to settle for this blue and am not quite sure how it looks.

I will also enter this card in:

Wish you a happy weekend.

Handmade flowers

Hello there,

Here is my card for today - the embossed cardstock has been coloured in with chalks and water colour pencils. The big flowers have been punched and then coloured with water colour paints and the smaller yellow ones have been sponged with distress ink. The tiny MS double butterfly has been coloured with water colour pencils and distress ink.

I could have been more creative with this card but so much time went into shaping the flowers that it left me with little time.

I will enter this card in:

For Fusion Card Challenge

Hello lovely peeps,

I happened to stumble upon a lovely blog called Fusion Card Challenge and so much as I wanted to just be, I made this card right away... The ribbon and washi tapes are from my stash and the flower has been made by me. The sentiment is from Docrafts probably retired by now but lying fresh and hardly used in my drawer. The flourishes are from Sizzix and I have used glossy paper to die cut them.

Ooops, I just realized that I cannot participate in the challenge as it is too late. Silly me but never mind, atleast I had fun making this card and maybe next week I will try and be on time.

I will also submit this card for the following challenges:

Second entry for Retro Sketches

Hello sweet bloggers,

This is my second entry for Retro Sketches this week with my new stamp from Stampendous bought a few months ago. Everything was going well and then I happened to go over the sentiment with my black permanent marker and it made it look all smudgy and shaky. I punched the flowers out of white and silver paper to make it look more interesting. I do like the way my flowers turned out though.

Retro Sketch 59 this week

Hello sweet bloggers,

Here is a quick card I have made for Retro Sketch 59 this week. It was simple and fun to make since I was strapped for time. Today I took 30 cards to Aleeza's school to sell and displayed them with my handmade poster in the reception. I hope I manage to sell some :-)
Now over to my simple and sweet card made with a clear stamp set from We r Memory Keepers. I have used Brilliance pearly blue and it looks quite nice in real life. Ofcourse my camera decided to make it look as bland as possible. A few random pearls and it was ready and by the way I seem to be using pearls on almost each creation these days. So must make a note to self - to use varied kind of embellies.

Down below are my cards all packed and ready to sell at the school reception.

For CAS on Sunday

Hello sweet peeps,

Here is my card for CAS on Sunday this week where the theme is round and round. This pretty doily was sent by Maricel with a pretty cardmaking magazine which I won in a lucky draw. It is a pack of three pretty designs and I have been hoarding it ever since. The sentiment stamp is from Hampton Art and the flowers have been punched out of pink card stock and I have used liquid pearls for their centres. The three pearls you see above the sentiment came to my rescue to hide a stamping error. The embroidery floss and button are from my stash. I would like to give credit for the inspiration of this card to Tenia who is a DT member at CAS on Sunday.

I will also submit this card for the following challenges:

Wine lovers always do the ripe thing

Hello there,

Here is a card I made with an image I had stamped a while ago. It is a Tara Reed stamp from Stamps Happen and I have used my Faber Castell water colour pencils to colour it. The rose has been made by yours truly in those rose making days of mine while the tiny flowers have been punched, I have the negative of a Spellbinder nestie and sponged that layer with Tim Holtz peeled paint. The background of the image was first stamped with a block using TH milled lavender (I think as it was a while ago). The ribbons are from my stash and the flourish is from Sizzix. The tiny ferns have been sponged with TH forest moss.

I am going to submit this card for the following challenges:

For CAS(e) this Sketch and CAS(ual) Friday

Hello sweet peeps,

Here is my card for CAS(e) this Sketch for this week and CAS(ual) Friday this week where the theme is to use glitter. I have used a Hero Arts clear stamp border from a set and have stamped it with orchid ink. I went over the entire image with my trusted Sakura gold pen to give it a sparkle. The MS layered butterfly has been treated the same way and looks quite pretty in real life. The antennae are home made and I have stuck crystal on the butterfly for added interest.

See you later...

Recycled card

Hello sweet bloggers,
Here is a card I made this morning in minutes which makes me think that maybe I need to relook at the name of my blog. A name such as "Quick cards" or "Card in a minute"... lol.

I saw this flower on the front of a brochure from the super market smiling at me and asking me to use it. So I took it and slapped it on right away on to a card. And I felt that this striped ribbon matches really well along with adding liquid pearls in the centre of this gigantic flower. Ready in minutes, honestly and what joy it gave me.

For Less is More - Lime and Black

Hello lovely bloggers,

Hope you are well and healthy which ever corner of the globe you are.
I had made a promise to myself that I would try and blog everyday but life just got in the way yesterday. Anyhow here I am today with a card that is bland and rather plain. Looks like mojo has gone for a ride again. Just didn't feel like making a card and had to force myself to make this one for Less is More which is all about lime and black this week.

I have embossed and sponged the lime green panel and have stuck black and white printed paper underneath it. The sentiment is from Spellbinders - it was lying handy on my table so went for it. Rounded two corners to add more interest however it may have worked otherwise.

I will also enter this card in the following challenges:

Wishing you a pleasant morning, afternoon or evening...

Pink and white quickie

Hello there,

I made this card a while ago but don't think I posted it on to my blog.
This MS punch was bought with much excitement and delight but has been used only once - to make this card. And I have many other punches like this which have hardly ever been used. Top secrets being shared there - lol.

A very simple card but it sold with great ease.

For CAS(e) this sketch and CAS(ual) Friday - 2nd entry

Hello sweet bloggers,

Hope you are enjoying the weekend which ever part of the globe you are in. It is almost the end of Sunday here.
Here is my second entry for CAS(e) this sketch and CAS(ual) Friday this week which is Chevron and Flowers. I have used a Penny Black image and coloured it in with water colour pencils.  The chevrons were stencilled in with American Crafts white ink. The sentiment is handwritten and the ribbon and flower are from my stash. I stuck a pearl and in the flower centre and on the top of the tag to make it look more interesting. The leaves have been punched and lightly coloured with water colour pencils as well.

Have to go to bed soon so good night all.

Thank you Sandra

Hello there,

Here is a card I made with the lovely papers and embellies I received from dear Sandra. Thank you ever so much, Sandra. Since everything was coordinated it took me precisely a few minutes to make this card. Sometimes it is nice to create a card with no stamping. All I did was add matching ribbon, crystals and an MS punch on the side with pop up fabric glue on it. I like this simple card but was left wondering if there was too much plain surface at the bottom?

Happy carding!

Lots of love,
Monica
