Christmas Card

Dear bloggers,

I was lucky to get an order for five Christmas cards two days ago. As you may be aware, I raise funds for a shelter that houses abused women in Singapore through the sale of my cards.
The popped up ornament here was bought in Sydney many years ago and I layered it on to a nestie under which was stuck corrugated cardboard. A gold cord was tied on the top of the bauble and it was carefully stuck at the back. A layer of washi in gold and the picture was complete. This simple beauty was much appreciated.

I will enter in the following challenges with this card:

Partly recycled

Dear bloggers,

I have used fancy gift wrap on this card that came from a very special person so full of kindness and compassion. Cotton lace, matching pink ribbon and a die cut sentiment completed the show. I do believe in simplicity and this card bears testimony to that belief.

Choose happy

Hello dear bloggers,

Here is a card I made for a dear friend whose birthday we celebrated during our previous United World Sanctuary meeting. I put up a birthday banner, two of the ladies got cake and the rest of us got gifts for the birthday girl and it was indeed an afternoon well spent.
We also watched a talk by Eckart Toile and did a meditation on the dining table before we ate lunch. The food did taste nicer after that - honestly.
Coming back to this card, a simple one but bright and surely a happy one.

Happy Birthday for a male

Hello dear bloggers,

Blogging has taken a back seat as I try my best to recover, eat healthy and exercise.
Here is a card to show you today which has die cut candles on it. The candles were cut with watercolour paper which was treated with pearlised watercolour gel crayons from India. I do like the effect here.
The sentiment was embossed using a part of an embossing folder and I have popped it up on corrugated cardboard. I have used similar coloured washi tape as those in the candles for added interest. A clean and simple card!

Commissioned card for a 50th birthday

Hello dear bloggers,

Here is a CAS card for a friend's 50th birthday. The matte gold numericals were die cut and painted with gold poster colour as was the larger nestie while the smaller nestie was die cut out of kraft. The light blue embossed cardstock is actually pearlised and looks quite nice in real life even though it is for a man.

Partly recycled thanks card

Hello bloggers,

I have been busy with some health issues and ofcourse the Meditation workshops for parents in school which are held at my place.

The card down below was made with very pretty screen printed paper from India. It was actually an envelope which I had saved from over 10 years ago. The invitation card was from a ceremony which is called 'Mundan' which means the shaving off of a toddler's hair. There is a scientific connection here as it is believed that the first crop of hair should be removed to allow healthy hair to grow.

Smile plus Guided Meditation Workshops

 Hello bloggers,

I have been away due to some health issues which are certainly on the mend. As I may have shared earlier, I host Guided Meditation/Science of Happiness workshops for parents in my younger one's school. I hosted the first session of a five week long course at home last Monday. We had to keep the numbers at no more than five. I have to say it went well.
This card was designed by Aleeza many months ago and I randomly put hydrangeas on the heart to bring more life to it. The filigree heart and sentiment has been die cut using paper that was treated with smoosh or something similar. The background paper was also done with water colours many months back.

Commissioned card for a music lover

Hello dear bloggers,

Here is a quickish kind of card for a music lover who loves pink besides music. The embossing, sponging, and layered flower left me feeling quite happy.
I don't know whether I shared the news regarding the sale of 20 cards to the Parent Association in my younger one's school. This was three weeks ago and another reason to feel chuffed.

For my daughter's 21st

 Dear bloggers,

Here is a card that I have put together for my older one's 21st birthday which is on the 19th. I am so grateful for the lovely human being she has turned out to be. In fact I learn so much from her. She is studying overseas and I am sure she will have a nice time with her friends.
The pink polka dotted designer paper is a local brand from Singapore while the light pink printed paper is from my stash. I had won it almost 10 years ago in a lucky draw.
The ribbon is from my stash as are the numbers. The little white nestie was embossed with the polka dots embossing folder to match it with the designer paper. The nesties were layered for more interest but on second thoughts may be I could have let the outermost layer be. My older one loves pink so I think she will like this card.

Comissioned happy birthday card

Dear sweet bloggers,

Here is a commissioned card made with a Penny Black rubber stamp. I stamped the image many years ago when I was still learning how to colour in and somehow was not too impressed with the colouring.

I have paper pieced the baker's cap and had to cover an ink mark with the pink hand tied bow. The designer paper is from a local Singapore brand and I do so like it even though it is a tad formal for the cute image. I have used ribbon on the right with a printed sentiment on it.
The lady who ordered it wanted me to make something related to baking for her friend who is a baker. So I thought this card was perfect.

Live Love Laugh

Dear bloggers,

This card has been made with the same gift wrap that I have used in the earlier cards that I have posted. I managed to make three cards out of the same paper. The die cut sentiment was made from handmade paper from India. There is washi tape on either side of the card and that pretty much completes it.

Dear sweet bloggers,

Here is the third card I have made with the last bits of a wrapping paper that a lovely friend used to pack a gift for me. Behind the image, is a green layer that has been painted with acrylics and behind that is designer paper in grey with Chevrons. The paper is a Singapore brand. The gold cord has been hand tied and the sentiment has been die cut from a pair of gold paper party goggles. I hope you like this card as I much as I did.

Partly recycled card

Hello dear bloggers,

This printed paper on this card was a fancy gift wrap in it's earlier life. A sweet friend brought me a gift wrapped in this paper and I told her that I would make a card with it. I sponged the edges with distress ink and stuck three layers of cotton lace at the bottom. The sentiment is a die cut and recycled packaging material that was painted a dark shade of green was used for it.

Over at Unstampabelles, the challenge is to share how you got inspired into card making with a twist of Thank You. Well, I was inspired by my Mum to start making cards when I was 10 years old. I made a card for my uncle when he had multiple fractures in his wrist. I remember that card so clearly - I drew an apple, coloured it in and fussy cut it and the caption I wrote was, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". I thought was super creative. Coming back to the inspiration I have received from my mum and I continue to receive it to this day. I remember she would draw daffodils and fill them up with crushed glass and glue. I thought that was really creative.

Commissioned card for an 80th birthday

Hello bloggers,

Someone asked me to make a card for a man's 80th and this man loves golf. So this is what I turned out with Japanese embellies bought in Indonesia many years ago. After sticking them on, I realized that the cost of the embellies was far more than the price I offered. Never mind. The paper inside the reverse of the white nestie is pearlized blue. It looks like a shop window to me. Aleeza helped greatly with the layout and the embossing as well as the sentiment. She advised that I don't put the numbers to make the recipient feel young. Lol.

Happy Birthday card by Aleeza

 Hello dear bloggers,

This card was made by Aleeza, my younger one who is 12. She locked herself in her room while I was busy in my own craft space and gave me strict instructions not to come into her room. Finally, when she did come out, this is what she had in her hand. She made the ice-cream cone on her own and fussy cut it after colouring it in with Lyra pencils.

The sentiment was handwritten as well and a strip of washi tape was stuck at the bottom.

I thought Aleeza did a pretty good job on this one.

For my mum's 80th birthday

Hello dear bloggers,

Today is my mum's 80th birthday and I am so grateful for her. She is one of the kindest, wisest and funniest people all rolled into one person, not to mention how young at heart she is. I made this card at 5 am this morning for her. She lives in India while we are in Singapore. I am waiting patiently to give it in person to her.
The background of this card has been made with Camlin gel crayons which are sparkly so it really looks nice in real life. The roses have been die cut using Alte New rose dies and the leaves have been cut using a Spellbinder die from a set. The papers that have been used to die cut the roses and leaves have been coloured with acrylics and watercolours respectively. I have used scraps of water colour paper for the leaves.  The numericals have been die cut as well. I sent the photo of the card to my mum and she really liked it.

You're Tea-rrific

 Dear bloggers,

This card has been made with a Kaiser Craft clear stamp and I have coloured it in with two shades of Prismas.
The flower with a little rhinestone in the centre was made by me many years ago and it seemed to fit in nicely.
The leaves have been punched and were coloured with green food colour.
The ' you are Tea-rrific' sentiment is part of the stamp while the 'happy birthday' sentiment has been handwritten.
I rested the first Spellbinder nestie on another one for more interest.

 Dear bloggers,

The clear stamp that I have used on this card is from Kaiser Craft and I have coloured the image with my daughter's colour pencils. The designer papers are from my stash. A Kaiser Craft die has been used to cut the sentiment which was coloured with Pentel watercolours after being die cut.

Hello bloggers,

I put together this card today. The die cut was a piece of kraft packaging and I went over it with green acrylic paint and gold poster colour. It was many months ago so I am not sure what I did. This is my take for the challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch this week. My younger daughter, Aleeza (aged 12) did the layout for this card. Watercoloured roses

Hello bloggers,

I have used a Kaiser craft clear stamp for the roses and have coloured in with Aleeza's Faber Castell's. This was done two summers ago when we visited beautiful Hokkaido in Japan.
The image has been layered with pink cardstock and I have used designer papers from my stash. The thin pink divider that you see between the two papers is floral ribbon.

Balloons

Dear bloggers,

Here is a card I have made with a Sizzix 3D embossing folder which I have sponged with Pistachio distress ink. I have so many embossing folders and could certainly do with more ideas as to how to use them. Since I like to make cards and sell/donate them to charity, I do like numbers. So long winded, time consuming cards are not for me, to be honest. Whenever I use an embossing folder, it looks so pretty and it is so tempting to leave it just embossed or maybe with a sentiment. Yet, I know in blog land, that may be too simple to display. Back to the card, the balloons have been die cut and embroidery yarn has been tied around them in a knot. I let the die cut sentiment cover the strings of the balloons so that they would not fly. Lol.

Thanks

Hello dear bloggers,

This card was heat embossed with gold metallic powder after using a clear stamp and Versamark embossing ink. Maybe I overheated the embossing powder which made it rather dark. It looks much prettier in real life but this is how the camera decided to be. I tied a gold ribbon to highlight the gold in the embossed image and used thin strings of gold cord to tie the little strip with the sentiment on it. The sentiment has been handwritten. And yes, the embossed image has been propped on a smaller piece of cardboard for added interest. I am trying to stay away from foam dots to help the environment.

Hello card + Our visit to SCWO

Dear bloggers,

Here is a card to show you today which has been made with my new dies (unbranded) from Ebay. The pink rectangular strip is watercolour paper which I painted over randomly with a brush and water colours. The sentiment is handwritten.
Down below are pictures of our visit to the SCWO (Singapore Council of Women's Organizations) which runs the shelter that I support with the sale of cards.

I am very grateful to have been abled to raise monies for a women's shelter from the sale of cards.

Here are some cards that I left behind to be used for birthdays at the shelter.

This is the card I wrote for Nicole, who is an Art Therapist and takes care of such projects at the SCWO.

It was a pleasure to meet her.
