To have and to hold...

Hello sweet bloggers,
Here is my card for CASE(e) this Sketch this week. I seem to have a love and not love relationship with this card...
I have used a vellum strip under the Ek Success border punch which looks quite pretty in real life. The feather, ribbon, hand made bow and pearls are from my stash and so are the liquid pearls. The sentiment came from my dear friend Sandra from the UK. Thank you!!!

Hope you are having a nice weekend...

Love,

Monica

Second entry for Retro Sketches

Hello sweet bloggers,

This is my second entry for Retro Sketches this week with my new stamp from Stampendous bought a few months ago. Everything was going well and then I happened to go over the sentiment with my black permanent marker and it made it look all smudgy and shaky. I punched the flowers out of white and silver paper to make it look more interesting. I do like the way my flowers turned out though.

I will also enter this card in:

See you later.

Second entry for CAS(E) this sketch

Hello sweet bloggers,

Here is my second entry for CAS(E) this sketch this week and it took me all of five minutes to make. The lace and ribbon are from my stash and so are the pearls. The sentiment is from Hero Arts which I stamped with Brilliance pearlescent blue and went over it with my blue Sakura gel pen to make it stand out. I do like this card, I have to say.

I will also enter this card in:

Will be away until next week

Hello bloggers,

Here is a quick card I made for a friend who wants to buy a few of my cards to support my work... I may have made such a kind earlier but I liked the design so I repeated it. Doesn't need much explanation - simple enough.

I will enter this card in:

We are going to Singapore until next week - happy change indeed.
See you when I get back.

Wedding card

Hello sweet bloggers,

Hope you have been having a good day - mine was wonderful, spent over tea and cake with dear friends.

Here is a card I made with my Quickcutz heart die after many failed attempts at getting a decent die cut. The flowers have been punched and layered with glossy white and parchment paper in yellow. I have used ribbon in place of the sentiment and you can see a teeny weeny bit of a Martha Stewart border punch peeping out. Liquid pearls in the centre of the flowers and pearls on one side of the heart finish it off. I found the centre of the heart quite plain but Zeenya said it looked just fine. And it sold!

I am going to enter this in the following challenges:

Happy crafting,

For Less is More - glamour and glitz

Hello sweet bloggers,

Am here with my second post for Less is More - glamour and glitz. I have always wanted to be the first one to submit my entry and this is my day... lol.
I made this card for an order a couple of days ago...
I have used one of my newest folders... Embossed it on pearly white card and stuck it on a red card base. The hearts are punched on hand made paper and lots of glitter glued on to them. Some bling on the flowers and hearts alongwith a couple of ribbon on either side.

Have a pleasant weekend.

Love,
Monica

Monochromatic red for an order

Hello lovely bloggers,

Hope you are having a good weekend... My older one, Zeenya turns 13 tomorrow. Gosh, how I am holding on to her while she is this Miss Independent wanting her own life. What did I know that they grow up so quickly???????? Thank God Aleeza is still little and I will try and not be so shocked at her growing up quickly.

I have made this for a friend who wanted wedding cards with red in them. I am so into making white on white cards for weddings but she was not unduly taken in with that colour combo and insisted she wanted red hearts. So here is my card... I do so hope she likes it.

I have used red card stock, embossed it and layered pearly white and red paper on it with two hearts die cut with Sizzix minis. The hearts have been embossed and I went over them with my red Sakura pen. The double ribbon has been hand tied and the organza roses, crystals and ribbon with Happy Wedding sentiment is from my stash.
Am going to submit this card for

Here is a random something I liked on Facebook so thought of sharing it with you all just like my friend Shirley-Anne does.

Much love,
Monica

For Less is More - third entry

Hello lovely bloggers,

This is my third entry for Less is More this week - Wedding and Marriage. I am just so in love with white on white cards... I thought I would make an Indian card this time but could not go anywhere beyond white so here I am with yet another white card. Hope it is not an overdose of white for you all.
I just ran the cardstock through my Cuttlebug, added some lace and handmade roses, leaves and liquid pearls in the centre of the roses and on the embossing.

I will also enter this card in Card Mania -handmade flowers

Today I am going to take Aleeza to a very special kiddie's place along with her best friends so she is rather excited about it.

Love,
Monica

Second entry for Less is More - Wedding and Marriage

Hello sweet bloggers,
Welcome to my newest follower - thank you!!!

I made this card this morning to overcome my disappointment with my new Quickcutz dies... I used a different kind of paper and lo and behold it worked. Happy bunny me. :-) It is going to be my second entry for Less is More - Wedding and Marriage.

It is a rather simple card - the hearts have been punched and embossed with smaller hearts stuck on them. The embossed sentiment and hearts have been mounted with foam pads.
The medallion is from Quickcutz - I love it but it often refuses to do a good job and I have wasted much paper with it. The tiny pearls are from my stash.
I quite liked how this monotone CAS card turned out - no colour, no glitter, just white paper and a few pearls really.

Wish you a nice Sunday - healthy, happy and crafty.

I am also going to enter this card in Make it Monday linky party - anything goes

Love,

Monica

Commissioned card

Hello sweet people,

Hope you are well and happy...

Here in Indonesia, it is approaching the end of the fasting period and soon it will be Idul Fitri on Sunday or Monday. Most people go home to their villages to celebrate the festival with their loved ones. So Jakarta is almost empty and the roads are traffic free - which is a rare delight! Apart from that schools close, offices as well so it is pretty much quiet, very quiet!!! That is unusual for a city that hardly sleeps.

Here are two cards I have made for an order...
This is one of my new embossing folders that I picked up from Singapore. Rather simple but I like how it turned out. Do you?

Below is the second card - there is ribbon instead of a stamp and I have used platinum dots around the hearts.

Sorry that I don't remember the name of the embossing folder - Aleeza is hungry and I must get her a snack.

Love,

Monica

Congratulatory card

Hi bloggers,

Hope you had a wonderful weekend...

Aleeza has started school this morning - a new class with a new teacher. I was missing the old teacher (a wonderful lady) sooo much!!! She is going to have a baby soon so has decided to be a stay at home mum.

Now to this card - Zeenya was kind enough to heat emboss this Hero Arts design block with silver embossing powder on to a shimmery mauve cardstock. It looks really effective in real life and I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

The  scalloped circles have been die cut with Ek Success. The subtle hearts that you see are actually fancy gift wrap.

The flowers and leaves (my new punch) have  been punched out of the same gift wrap. I have used three different flower  punches to give more character...and I have used shiny centres on some flowers to highlight them.

The sentiment has been embossed with Cuttlebug on shimmery cream paper.

I have made this card for a very special friend's son and daughter in law who are already married. My friend loved it!

Wish you a happy week ahead.

I will try and do my rounds soon. Zeenya wants to move her bed and change the layout of her room so I am off to help her with that.

Hugs,

Monica

Two wedding cards...

Hello bloggers,

I am trying to enjoy the summer holidays with my girls though from time to time, my patience is tried majorly by little Aleeza (my second one).

I am back pretty soon this time with two wedding cards... for my hubby's secretary who is getting married this Saturday. I gave Aleeza some paints to keep her busy while I made these simple cards.

For the first card I used light grey card stock and have stuck metallic silver handpaper on it.

The Docraft cake stamp has been stamped and heat embossed in silver by Zeenya on metallic creamy white paper and I have decorated the border with my Martha Stewart punch.

The silver ribbon and gems are from my stash while the baby blue ribbon is from Lynn - thank you so much, Lynn! I am impatiently waiting to find more time to start my next batch of charity cards with all that lovely stuff you have sent me...

The sentiment has been embossed with my dear Cuttlebug while the flowers have been punched with Carla craft flower punch.

For the second card, I have used grey card stock as well while the dress, shoes and flowers are from Shirley-Anne. Thank you, dear friend! I have parted with these lovely embellies with great reluctance (you know about my hoarding instincts, right?) Yet, I do think that the bride-to-be deserves it all - she is such a kind lady!

The grey punched hearts have been covered with glitter to match the general theme.

I have used my new Allegro embossing folder on metallic paper for the background.

The sentiment is handwritten but I'm afraid I did not do a good job.

Which card do you like? The first one is rather simple but looks much better in real life.

I will come and visit you all soon... forgive me for not being regular.

Hugs,

Monica

Happy New Year!

Hello dear blogger buddies,

Here's wishing you all a very happy, healthy and OFCOURSE a creative 2011.

I am sorry that I have been missing in action as I was attending an Indian wedding in New Delhi. I will try and find some decent pictures of the bride and post them next time. We had lots of fun with good food, wine and music. It was biting cold in Delhi but we managed to keep our spirits warm with Vodka and natural good spirits!!

The card above was made for the bride to be but we FORGOT to carry it along as we made it minutes before we left for the airport. I promise that it looks much better in real life as the colours are too dull in the picture. Zeenya heat embossed the cake and I just added some quick embellishments and voila it was ready. Pity it is still lying with us!!!

Yours truly at the wedding with my two girls - Zeenya wore contact lenses for the wedding.

These are some of my school friends I met up over for lunch in New Delhi - the wine added to our happy smiles apart from the fact that it was a lovely feeling to meet up with old buddies from school. I am the first from the left - in  pink.

I will try and catch up with all of you at the soonest. You cannot imagine how much you were all missed.

Hugs,

Monica
