Balloons

Dear bloggers,

Here is a card I have made with a Sizzix 3D embossing folder which I have sponged with Pistachio distress ink. I have so many embossing folders and could certainly do with more ideas as to how to use them. Since I like to make cards and sell/donate them to charity, I do like numbers. So long winded, time consuming cards are not for me, to be honest. Whenever I use an embossing folder, it looks so pretty and it is so tempting to leave it just embossed or maybe with a sentiment. Yet, I know in blog land, that may be too simple to display. Back to the card, the balloons have been die cut and embroidery yarn has been tied around them in a knot. I let the die cut sentiment cover the strings of the balloons so that they would not fly. Lol.

Thanks

Hello dear bloggers,

This card was heat embossed with gold metallic powder after using a clear stamp and Versamark embossing ink. Maybe I overheated the embossing powder which made it rather dark. It looks much prettier in real life but this is how the camera decided to be. I tied a gold ribbon to highlight the gold in the embossed image and used thin strings of gold cord to tie the little strip with the sentiment on it. The sentiment has been handwritten. And yes, the embossed image has been propped on a smaller piece of cardboard for added interest. I am trying to stay away from foam dots to help the environment.

Aleeza's card

 Hello bloggers,

Here is a card that Aleeza, my 12 year old made totally on her own while I was giving an art/card making class to a student. She made it in minutes, smooshing with distress oxides, a happy die cut sentiment and Birthday written in her handwriting. I thought it really turned out well. Maybe I can take a class from her. "The child is the father of man" or rather to be politically correct and in my words, "The child is the mother of women". Lol.

Hello card + Our visit to SCWO

Dear bloggers,

Here is a card to show you today which has been made with my new dies (unbranded) from Ebay. The pink rectangular strip is watercolour paper which I painted over randomly with a brush and water colours. The sentiment is handwritten.
Down below are pictures of our visit to the SCWO (Singapore Council of Women's Organizations) which runs the shelter that I support with the sale of cards.

I am very grateful to have been abled to raise monies for a women's shelter from the sale of cards.

Here are some cards that I left behind to be used for birthdays at the shelter.

This is the card I wrote for Nicole, who is an Art Therapist and takes care of such projects at the SCWO.

It was a pleasure to meet her.

I will enter the card above in the following challenges:

Partly recycled - thank you card

Hello dear bloggers,

Here is a card which has been made out of an Indian wedding invation card. The light blue metallic paper was also an invitation card for an Indian ceremony where a toddler's hair is shaved off. This has a scientific basis to it which says that removing the first crop of hair is healthy.  The paper has been with me for over 12 years and finally, I did something with it. The sentiment and the light blue dots have been die cut from the same paper. I have used my trusted Cuttlebug for the bigger circles. For the tiny light blue dots, I took a hole puncher and cut out these circles for added interest.

Thank you

Hello bloggers,

Here is a thank you card to show you today. I had this piece of cardstock that I had painted with acrylics in blue and green. I cut it diagonally for more interest and die cut the sentiment from thick packaging material which was painted with shades of green and gold.

Self painted flowers

Hello dear bloggers,

Here is a card I have made after watching, 'Calligraphy by Mukta' on Youtube. She is an amazing watercolour and calligraphy artist.
I have used Pentel watercolour tubes here and the flowers and leaves have been painted with brushes directly on to watercolour paper. No pencil work here. The layer below the flowers was done with acrylics. It just so happened to come together. Ephiphany I call that.
