Partly recycled thank you

Dear sweet bloggers,

Here is the third card I have made with the last bits of a wrapping paper that a lovely friend used to pack a gift for me. Behind the image, is a green layer that has been painted with acrylics and behind that is designer paper in grey with Chevrons. The paper is a Singapore brand. The gold cord has been hand tied and the sentiment has been die cut from a pair of gold paper party goggles. I hope you like this card as I much as I did.

Partly recycled card

Hello dear bloggers,

This printed paper on this card was a fancy gift wrap in it's earlier life. A sweet friend brought me a gift wrapped in this paper and I told her that I would make a card with it. I sponged the edges with distress ink and stuck three layers of cotton lace at the bottom. The sentiment is a die cut and recycled packaging material that was painted a dark shade of green was used for it.

Over at Unstampabelles, the challenge is to share how you got inspired into card making with a twist of Thank You. Well, I was inspired by my Mum to start making cards when I was 10 years old. I made a card for my uncle when he had multiple fractures in his wrist. I remember that card so clearly - I drew an apple, coloured it in and fussy cut it and the caption I wrote was, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". I thought was super creative. Coming back to the inspiration I have received from my mum and I continue to receive it to this day. I remember she would draw daffodils and fill them up with crushed glass and glue. I thought that was really creative.

Commissioned card for an 80th birthday

Hello bloggers,

Someone asked me to make a card for a man's 80th and this man loves golf. So this is what I turned out with Japanese embellies bought in Indonesia many years ago. After sticking them on, I realized that the cost of the embellies was far more than the price I offered. Never mind. The paper inside the reverse of the white nestie is pearlized blue. It looks like a shop window to me. Aleeza helped greatly with the layout and the embossing as well as the sentiment. She advised that I don't put the numbers to make the recipient feel young. Lol.

Thank you card

Hello dear bloggers,

This card has been made for the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. A Kaiser Craft clear stamp has been used here and I have coloured it with Faber Castel watercolour pencils and a water brush. The designer papers are a Singaporean brand and I do love these chevrons and polkas. The sentiment is a Kaiser Craft die and it was coloured with acrylics before die cutting.

Happy Birthday card by Aleeza

 Hello dear bloggers,

This card was made by Aleeza, my younger one who is 12. She locked herself in her room while I was busy in my own craft space and gave me strict instructions not to come into her room. Finally, when she did come out, this is what she had in her hand. She made the ice-cream cone on her own and fussy cut it after colouring it in with Lyra pencils.

The sentiment was handwritten as well and a strip of washi tape was stuck at the bottom.

I thought Aleeza did a pretty good job on this one.

For my mum's 80th birthday

Hello dear bloggers,

Today is my mum's 80th birthday and I am so grateful for her. She is one of the kindest, wisest and funniest people all rolled into one person, not to mention how young at heart she is. I made this card at 5 am this morning for her. She lives in India while we are in Singapore. I am waiting patiently to give it in person to her.
The background of this card has been made with Camlin gel crayons which are sparkly so it really looks nice in real life. The roses have been die cut using Alte New rose dies and the leaves have been cut using a Spellbinder die from a set. The papers that have been used to die cut the roses and leaves have been coloured with acrylics and watercolours respectively. I have used scraps of water colour paper for the leaves.  The numericals have been die cut as well. I sent the photo of the card to my mum and she really liked it.

I will participate in the following challenges:

http://seizethebirthday.blogspot.com/ - birthday + optional topping scraps
